One of the closest beaches to Mykonos Town, Ornos is located just 3 km southeast from the center.
A sandy beach on a small gulf, it is mostly suited to families and couples, with sunbeds and beach bar facilities for beachgoers’ convenience and comfort. Still it maintains its calm aura although it does occasionally get crowded due to its close proximity to Mykonos Town.
Platys Gialos beach
Located at 5 km southeast from Mykonos Town, Platys Gialos is a wonderful beach that is relatively quiet despite its popularity. Perfect for couples and families there are many cafes and tavernas around for grabbing a delicious lunch or early dinner before returning back to town.
The most glamourous and cosmopolitan beach on the island, frequented by many celebrities and fitted with luxurious beach facilities. It is where Nammos beach bar is located which is a hot spot of jet setters and for those who wish to experience Mykonos beach life at its best. It is situated 5 km southeast of Mykonos Town.
Made up of two sandy beaches that are separated by a strait of land, it provides the best of both worlds on either side of the headland. The southern side is distinctly calmer than the northern side which is louder so it is not the place of choice for a relaxing day in the sun, but rather a fun day on the beach. Paraga beach is approximately 6 km south of Mykonos Town and it is also where Scorpios beach bar is located, built on an elevated spot on the rocks of the beach, offering wonderful panoramic views over Paraga beach.
Paradise & Super Paradise beaches
If you are looking for a non-stop, all day beach party, then Paradise and Super Paradise beaches offer precisely that. Organised and nudist friendly these beaches are for round the clock partying. Cavo Paradiso is in Paradise beach, is the famous club that often features world famous DJs. Super Paradise beach is less loud and is the top gay friendly beach in Mykonos. They are located next to each other within 7 km from the center of town.
Elia beach is located 11 km from Mykonos town and is one of Mykonos’ largest sandy beaches. It is organised offering plenty of facilities, and due to its sheer size it is suitable for couples, families and groups of friends too.
A more secluded beach on the northern side of Mykonos around 11 km from town, Fokos is a non-organised beach meaning it gathers less of a crowd, making it ideal for an entirely relaxing and tranquil beach day. As most of the north beaches, they are best enjoyed on days when it is not windy.
Another calm and serene beach on the northeastern side of Mykonos, and one of its most beautiful ones that is not overcrowded or overly popular due to its remoteness. Partly organised, it suited to both families and couples seeking to connect with nature with some conveniences too.
Agios Sostis beach
A beach that offers no comfort or conveniences and, as it is located on the north of island, is dependent on winds, Agios Sostis is one of the places that locals choose in order to avoid the crowds of the more popular beaches. Checking the weather prior to getting there and bringing your own drinks and snacks is advised. However, once you make it there, it will fully compensate for the lack of facilities with its immense natural beauty.
Another beautiful northern Mykonos beach, Panormos is also serene and secluded, away from the noise of the crowds. Bring your gear to this beach as it too has no facilities, but it is definitely worth checking out if a tranquil beach setting is what you desire. However, for experiencing a bit of luxury on the side too, Principote Beach bar and restaurant is in close proximity.
An eden for windsurfers and kite surfers, Ftelia beach is also located on Mykonos’ northern side, on a cove that harnesses the power of the wind to the surfers’ benefit.
